Eighth Street offers numerous ways to get involved and participate in church life.
Small groups can be a formal or informal way of participation. Some of these small groups include:
Spiritual Discovery Groups: Groups of 4 persons meet monthly with a pastor (trained in Spiritual Direction) to provide opportunity to notice God’s activity in the lives of those gathered. Praying scripture (lectio divina), listening to one person’s story, responding by naming God’s activity in this one’s life provides each person opportunities to listen to others and to be listened to.
Support groups: At times an individual experiences an on-going difficult situation. That person and a group of 3 additional people, meet monthly with a pastor (trained in Spiritual Direction) to provide opportunity to watch for God’s activity in the life of the person experiencing the difficulty.
Small groups: A number of informal small groups meet. Some meet for book or bible study, and others for fellowship. While no formal structure creates small groups, individuals who express interest in such groups explore with pastors a variety of ways to join small groups.
